"Universal Laws and Truth"

As a small business owner, I find reading books to improve my pėrformancė essential to success. Recently, I have been reading a thought-provoking book which examines how the Japanese Samurai faced life. The book, "The Way of the Warrior Trader", by Richard D. McCall, focuses on helping financial traders become more profitable but the lessons discussed are just as applicable to small business owners.

One chapter in particular I would like to share with you. The chapter reviews "Universal Laws and Truth." The laws discussed are those of life. And the point of understanding these "facts of life" is to help you overcome negative, disabling emotions so you can achieve your full potential.

I found the 10 Universal Laws to be extremely helpful, so I have summarized them for you hėrė:

1) The Law of Duality

There is a flip side or opposite of everything. For instance, you can only know good, if there is evil. Light can only exist with dark. Good luck can only exist if there is bad luck. And to experience success you must know failure.

2) The Law of Cycles

All events occur in cycles. Professional athletes might refer to the law of cycles as streaks. In the small business realm it seems to be you're either hot or not. Have you ever noticed how business can suddenly begin to go really well? Your promotions work, you make salės and opp0rtunity seems to be around every corner. Then boom, you can't sell water in a desert, your web site crashes, your phonė goes dead and pretty much everything is a disaster.

In accepting the law of cycles, you know to make the most of the good streaks. And when times are bad keep you head up and look ahead to the upcoming reversal of fortune:-)

3) The Law of Evolution

Everything evolves and changes. It is up to you to ensure you progress and move ahead. Because if you are not progressing you will regress and fall behind. The law of evolution is particularly applicable in the business world. To compete in the marketplace you constantly need to watch the competition, work to improve your products/ service and serve your customers better. When you become complacent, the marketplace moves ahead without you, you're left behind and before you know it you're out of business.

4) The Law of Choices

You have control over the choices you make. You have the power to control your destiny and your possibilities are unlimitėd. Stop feeling trapped by your circumstances. You are not a victim. Make the decision to change your life and choose a brand new future.

5) The Law of Responsibility

You must accept the outcomes for the choices you make. If your budget is limited and you decide to stop promoting your business, when salės decline don't blame the economy. You made the decision to stop attracting new customers, take responsibility for it. Only when you acknowledge your mistakes and accept responsibility for your choices can you improve.

6) The Law of Inertia

The law of inertia in physics states, "An object at rest tends to stay at rest." This law is true of life as well. When you stop working on improving your business, or you procrastinate on completing a project the longer you go without acting, the harder it will be to get started. Don't lose your time to inertia, as it can nėvėr be recovered.

7) The Law of Momentum

"An object in motion tends to stay in motion." This second law of physics is again a reality of life. Once you get started it is easier to keep going and make progress. You probably notice this law in action every day. Once you get out of bed and into the showėr (the hard part), getting dressed, eating breakfast and going out the door is a breeze.

8) The Law of Synchronicity

You are part of the universe, not a separate entity. Your actions affect those around you and determine how your life is shaped. It is important to recognize you are inseparable from the events and situations in your life. When you see your connection to the world around you, you understand the control you have over your destiny.

9) The Law of Manifestation

You become what you think about the most. So as the old adage goes, "Be careful what you wish for - you'll probably get it!"

Believe in your thoughts and imagination, because they have power. Use them to your advantage. If you think your life will be rich and fulfilling, you will make it a reality.

10) The Law of Process and Action

Of course, if you are going to move ahead in life and make the most of your potential rather than just ponder the possibilities you will need to actually do something. You have to undergo the process of taking your desired goals and breaking them down to manageable parts. Then take action on each step. It is possible to reach your dreams or destination if you plan appropriately and follow through.

I hope these 10 Universal Laws inspire and motivate you to move ahead in your business and achieve success.

Hey, we're at number nine in our eMarketing Systems, wow where has the time gone???

Ok, if you are new to DEMC, firstly, WELCOME ABOARD. You have obviously missed a bit, but that's ok, there is always a way to play a bit of catch up. All you have to do is go to the DEMC website and visit the archives. The previous eight eMarketing Systems are there ;o)

Today, I want to go into a bit more detail about leveraging and list building.

I use leveraging a lot, mainly because I know that I, myself, can only reach so many people in a given campaign. However, if I make my current list members "partners" and provide them with tools that will help them and help spread the word about me...then I am utilizing leveraging at its finest.

Let me explain this in a bit more detail for you.

I have a newsletter, Do-It-Yourself Marketing which is in an eBook format. What I have done is turned my newsletter into a marketing tool that my list can turn around and use as well. They are able to customize my newsletter with their name and URL and then use it as a "gift" or even as a newsletter of their own. In doing so I have turned my list members into "partners." They are using my material to help their eBusiness by giving it away and in doing so, I am leveraging my marketing efforts through them and building a list as well.

See how that works??

I have set up a w1n/w1n. My list members can piggy-back my writing and use the DIY Marketing eBooks for their own list building purposes. It's a w1n for me because I can n0w tap into the networks that my list members belong to. Networks that I probably might not have been able to reach on my own. I get to expand my reach.

Now you maybe thinking, "ok, you have the reach, but what about your list?"

Good question ;o)

My list is being built because the customization rights only comes via the original DIY Marketing list. The only way you can get the customization information is if you are an original subscriber. None of the list partners are able to give away those customization rights. They can customize their copy and give their copy away and use it to build a list, only.

See how it works??

That is one way to leverage and build a list. We talked about a few examples in previous issues of DEMC. Another way was using articles. There of course you are leveraging using the lists of other publishers who pick up your articles. The other way was writing an eCourse and enabling those who requested to receive it to use it to build a list as well.

The best way for this leveraging and list building to work is if the vehicle to build the list is unique. I decided to break away from mainstream newsletter publishing and spun it so I would stand out from the pack.

You need to look at your eBusiness and see how you can do the same thing. It's NOT HARD...it just takes a little brainstorming ;o)

"Get Featured on Local News Without Spending a Dime"

Your local TV news is one of the most trusted, most heeded voices in the media today. The vast majority of us lie in bed or sit on the couch every night to watch the local news before going to bed. And you can use the popularity of your local news stations to get business. It may seem like a hard thing to do, but it's easier than you think; and the potential payoff is huge.

Imagine...a local veteran news anchor that everyone in town is familiar with turns to the camera and mentions your name on TV. Then, he even cuts to a video of a promotion at your store or an interview with you. A simple mention of your business on your local news can do wonders for your bottom line. But how do you get yourself on TV?

In many cases, the story may not sound interesting or be interesting, but if it LOOKS interesting, it can get on TV. Even a mindlessly goofy event, if it LOOKS fun, can get terrific news coverage.

Plan to do something silly, outrageous, or downright nuts. Hold a pie eating contest where the contestants have to eat with tongue depressors. Stand on a corner in a lobster costume and hand out balloons. Anything that will get you noticed could get you on TV.

Before you stage your event, send an announcement to your local stations. Be sure to be specific about what you're doing, where, and when.

You could even try pulling your stunt right outside the station's building or at some other event you already know will be covered. Then watch as your visual stunt is covered by local stations, and enjoy the resulting boost in business.

"BUT HOW CAN I GET ON TV?"

If you can associate your product, service, or idea with a topic that the news already wants to cover, you can borrow from their publicity to get some of your own.

Anything political or dealing with hot community topics or problems is covered. Local or national celebrities always get camera time. Health news is big these days, especially the diet and low-carb craze. If you can point out with a press release how your business is related to one of these things, you're in. For example, perhaps your business gets involved in a community service program that will be newsworthy. Or, you could get involved in a local campaign to fight heart disease or diabetes.

In short, getting noticed by your local stations can get you massive local business. And getting on local TV these days isn't as hard as you probably think. Do something crazy, or help out with a well-known community issue or cause: you'll get the coverage you deserve.

Its a f-r-e-e program by the way.

Survey Monkey tabulates the results to every question and is great for gauging the effectiveness of your survey.

--Make your subscribers your friend.

--Ask your list their "wants and needs".
