How to Get More Email Leads

The number one question I am asked is “How do I get more
leads to build my list and grow my business?”

The key to generating leads is to understand this statistic:
75% - 80% of customers think that they find the product /
service vendor from whom they buy.

Most customers believe they do the research and find the
product /service they buy. Customers typically buy only
when they’re out looking for a product / service you sell.

To get more leads, you need to change your thinking. You
are not out hunting for leads. Rather you need to position
your business so that your leads when hunting - find you.

Your job as a marketer is to make your business visible
and easy to find. Once an individual finds your business
you then must capture their contact information so you
can follow-up with them.

To get more leads, you have to improve your business’
online visibility.

Let’s review 4 essential tactics to getting noticed.
And take special note of the 4th strategy as it explains
how to get to page 1 on google search results.


1) Advertise consistently in trade publications.

What does your target market read?

Take your advertising budget and place ongoing ads
with those trade publication.

A one time big ad buy, will only attract those leads
looking at that moment for what you sell. All others
who don’t currently need your offerings will mostly
ignore you.

If you space out your ads in trade publications over
time, then you’ll always be visible and easy to find
for prospects when ever they happen to look.


2) Promote using Web 2.0.

Get involved with user interactive sites online - forums,
blogs, personal web sites, rich media (audio /video).

* Find high traffic forums that your target market visits.
Post to the discussion.
* Have a presence on MySpace.
* Set-up a channel on YouTube and upload videos.
* Publish a blog

When you participate in the online communities that your
target audience visits you make your business visible
and accessible.


3) Paid Search Marketing

Search engines are invaluable at generating quality leads.
You know when a lead uses a search engine to locate your
site he/she is in the hunting mode.

A pay-per-click campaign is a good way to quickly drive
leads to your site. However, careful testing is required
to ensure you can sustain a campaign.

Remember, the key to lead generation is to always be
visible. You never know when your leads will go hunting
so you want to be sure your offer consistently shows up.


4) Organic Search Engine Placement

Getting top placement in a search engine for your key words
is the best ongoing strategy for lead generation.

You should focus on optimizing your site for the search
engines. However, realize getting top placement for your
site can take months and lots of hard work.

A faster tactic you might consider for getting top search
engine placement is through informative article.

Writing and distributing informative articles is one of the
main techniques I’ve used for getting leads to the DEMC
site over the years. The articles I write get picked up by
search engines and drive traffic to our site.
