Improve Your Online Small Business Profits

One of the best ways to build a solid business on the Internet is to find an audience big sites have missed.
Sure, Amazon.com has the book field about wrapped up, but what about books for airplane pilots, books for people who play woodwind instruments, or books for people who like to save their money in a bank rather than invest in stocks?
While these niche markets won't make you a billionaire, they have thousands, sometimes hundreds of thousands of members who are looking for a site specifically tailored to their interest. Can you earn $1,000 per month or do $100,000 a year in sales?
Absolutely!
One of the most successful small sites I've seen is the guy who sells John Denver memorabilia. Not everyone is interested in the 70s star, but those who adore him will pay top dollar to get what this site sells. And it's NOT something the big sites are likely to zero in on.
Another site focuses on everything an amateur musician needs to play jazz guitar. While jazz CDs are a tiny market compared to pop, rock, and country, there are many thousands of hobbyists who are jumping up and down to learn about, discuss, and buy anything that will help them learn to play jazz.
There are lots of sites that sell books to schools and teachers (a huge billion dollar market), but very few give teachers a step-by-step method for teaching. The MLM industry has thousands of sites that give you an easy, effective system you can duplicate. So why don't teachers have such a site and system?
One teacher noticed this problem and created an effective system that can be used in any classroom worldwide to meet all the problems teachers are facing these days. It's a simple 1-2-3 method. Her site pulls in hundreds of thousands of dollars yearly.
Take a long look at big, successful sites and ask yourself what services their members or users might need. eBay is the largest retail outlet in the world. No question, a lot of people have made a lot of money selling stuff on eBay.
But one woman created a thriving business (with a warehouse and a dozen employees) selling the bubble wrap just about every merchant on eBay needs.
Amazon.com has immediate access to millions of books in nearby warehouses, but those aren't anywhere near ALL the books that are available. There are many specialty publishers and self-printed authors who offer their books to Amazon on a special order basis.
There are also a large number of very small stores, many operated from homes around the country, who offer access to used books through Amazon. These small stores are getting access to Amazon's massive customer base by offering a specialized niche Amazon can't offer.
I hope these examples get your creative juices flowing. It's almost always easier to make money from a proven idea that already has a lot of people using it.
