Featured Writer: John Botscharow

Spam Issues Expert

John Botscharow has been in sales and marketing for almost twenty years. He has sold everything from encyclopedias to spices. He has marketed a wide variety of products and services, from traditional insurance products to a small not-for-profit agency working with ethnic Chinese from South-East Asia ("boat people").

John has a B.A. in Anthropology and an M.A. in Theology. He has extensive sales and marketing training from corporate trainers. He is a staunch advocate of Guerrilla Marketing. John and his wife Elizabeth have three children: Heidi, who is nine, Ian, who is five, and Mikey ,who is four.

Ian is the reason John started marketing on the Internet. Just after his second birthday, Ian was diagnosed with moderate to severe autism, a developmental disorder that can (and in Ian's case does) include a range of problems including Attention Deficit Disorder, hyperactivity, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder as well as general learning disabilities. John needed a means of support with a flexible schedule to meet his needs.

John is the sole owner of JBot Advertising Specialties, a promotional novelties company. He is a partner in 3R Marketing, http://www.3r-marketing.com, an online marketing training and tools site, and the founder and executive director of e-Crucible, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation registered in Arkansas, that is concerned about the Spam hysteria on the Internet.
